Waning days of summer: 3 (High Camp)

We’re now on day 3, which is Tuesday even though today is Thursday. It’s all super clear, right? By Saturday, which will really be Saturday, we’ll be all caught up. Moving on …

We left the competitions of Monday behind to scale new mountains on Tuesday. At the site of the VIII Olympics (1960), we went up to 8,200 feet: High Camp, Squaw Valley.

On the top of the mountain with Lake Tahoe in the distance it felt as though we’d fast forwarded to November. It was a balmy 50 degrees with 25 mile an hour winds. Even so, High Camp has a pool. And if there’s a pool, you know who is going to be in it.

Back in the day, I would have been in it too. So would Dad. But the cold was just a bit too biting. Playing Lifeguard was the warmer choice.

The swimmer and the lifeguard both posed on the medal stand in the Olympic museum.

Next up: Days 4, 5 & 6 coming to you on Day 7. First we’ve got more adventures to cram in. Good friends, outdoor concerts, swimming and spy games. We’re on it!
