The last day of summer

Well, here we are. The last day of summer. 2nd grade starts tomorrow at 8:25 a.m. and we’re busy with last minute getting-ready activities …

:: Evaluating snack and lunch items to pack

:: Picking out first day of school outfit

:: Washing 25 loads of laundry (OK, I exaggerate but it feels like that many)

:: Craving iced coffee but settling for diet coke with lime

:: Making elaborate settings for Lego people

:: Talking on the phone to sisters and mom

:: Sorting through 150 emails (the first 110 came in the first 2.5 days I was away … good to be popular, right?)

:: Making grocery lists

:: Reviewing projects that I was working on only a week ago but have since dimmed in memory

:: Feeling lucky to have had such an action-packed week with family and friends … so good that I lost track of the days and dates (something I’m rarely able to do)

:: Washing the car

It’s only 1:40 p.m. so we still have half a day of summer left. Might have to ride bikes to get that iced coffee!
