Pumpkin Alley

Welcome October! We are kicking off the three-month decorating extravaganza in grand style. We have everything unpacked but are probably only about half-way through with the placement and arranging. It takes time to be spooky! While the mayor of our little Halloween village (that would be K) took charge of where to put the various things that move, I set up Pumpkin Alley.

Over the years it seems I’ve collected quite a bit of orange. And while I like orange just fine, it does rather clash with the predominant red accents running through my house. Putting all the orange together in one place (in the kitchen window) looks great and doesn’t fight with anything else. The black and white was then free to run wild.

Ah, we do love skeletons around these parts. K is very proprietary about Mr. Bones — the big white skeleton sitting at her desk — and decides where he should go throughout the day. He pretty much gets the run of the house.

If you’re looking for Halloween ideas of the crafting, cooking and all-around creating kind, you can sign up for Better Homes & Gardens 100 Days of Holidays. (Belle, I can see you rolling your eyes!) I’ve already found some great stencils and card ideas. Check it out!
